Skoda Octavia, budget luxury sedan
In 2004 Skoda brought its midsize sedan named Octavia, but in this pandemic Skoda recently launched its 4th generation of Octavia. In this new Octavia we get typical Skoda style variants – style , Laurin and Klement ( L and K ) . Under the
hood, Octavia get 2.0 L TSI unit with 7 speed dual clutch transmission , in this engine Skoda involved a new shift by
wire technology . Looking at performance we get redlines at 4000 RPM with an impressively claimed 15 KMPL fuel economy . In terms of measurement it’s length , width and height
are following respectively – 4689 mm , 1829 mm , 1469 mm . Because of 17 inch alloys and 137 mm of ground clearance , this makes the ride comfy and cosy.
Comparing to the 3rd generation this 4th generation longer by 15 mm and wider by 19 mm . At front we get glossy black grill with Skoda’s BI-LED projector
headlamps and also led DRLs , below the headlamps sharp and sleek bumper with the chrome strip in the centre gives pleasant look , integrated led fog lamps and front parking sensors increases features in this new sedan .
The 17 inch alloys and the sloping roof makes the Octavia more aggressive . At the rear , the vehicle gets sharp LED taillights and my favorite things in this new generation Skoda is that S K O D A lettering that
across the tailgate . The new Skoda Octavia is offered with premium beige suede leather upholstery
with chrome highlights , redesigned new multi level dashboard comes with 10 inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless
android auto and apple car play , below the infotainment system there is touch slider to control volume ,
dual zone cliamatronic air conditioning system with air care function enables different temperatures to be set
for the front passengers . We also gets wireless charging pad with USB-c type ports and a gear selector with an
electric parking brake . Like the new generation Skoda cars , Octavia gets two spoke steering wheel with a Skoda’s 10.25 inch virtual cockpit
with lots of information on it . The sliding armrest and the space in it ,
makes your longer ride comfortable . The rear seats gets the AC vents with the rear
sun blind , Octavia comes with the massive 600 litres of boot space which can be extended to 1,555 litres of
space whether it can be inclued your house in it . In Octavia we get lots of unique features and tech like 600+ watts 12 speakers canton sounds speakers
with a subwoofer , automatic headlamps with automatic wipers , gesture control , umbrella holder in door , led reading lights with gesture control ,
Skoda logo projection on road through ORVM , rear view camera washer , keyless entry , 10.5 inch virtual cockpit , dual zone climate control , 12 ways electrically adjustable
driver seat with lumbar support and memory function , led ambient light , leather seats , paddle shifters
and many more . In Octavia there is some attention to detail , like umbrella holder drain the water from the umbrella , electrically folding seats ,
electronic opening and closing boot with gesture control , ambient lighting shows red light if the door opens , behind the IRVM there is USB-C type ports to hang the
dashcamera, below the infotainment system there is touch slider to increase or decrease the volume , parking assist , we get 1,555 litres of total boot space , gesture control on infotainment system and on reading lights. In connectivity this sedan doesn’t get behind , Octavia comes with the My SKODA CONNECT which
is the connecting service by Skoda , in this My SKODA CONNECT we get geo fencing , engine start stop through mobile app , vehicle tracking , service information , driving information , there is also a voice assistant names Laura and many more . In safety Octavia
gets 8 airbags, ABS with EBD , ESP , traction control , Tyre pressure monitoring system ( TPMS ) , seat belt warning , isofix child seat anchor point , brake assist , hill hold control , keyless entry , cruise control , fatigue alert ,
multi collision brake , speed sensing auto door lock and unlock , child safety lock , front and rear parking sensors , reverse camera with dynamic guidelines
and many more . The cheery on the cake is, we get park assist in L and K variant . In style variant there are no any big changes but we didn’t get rear sunshades , TPMS , Automatic parking , electrically adjustable front seats , electric tailgate opening and closing and 6 airbags instead of 8 , Steel spare wheel instead of alloy. Octavia gets 5 colour options .

This sedan costs from 25.99 lakh to 28.99 lakh ( ex-showroom ) , in this D-segment we don’t get as much as options but Hyundai elantra , Skoda superb rival it . But in this price point it rival some mid sized suv like Jeep compass , Citroen C5 aircross , Hyundai Tuscon , Toyota Camry ,Tata safari , Volkswagen T-Roc , Tata harrier . But at this price point octavia missed some features in it like a panoramic sunroof which comes with the 15 lakhs car, ventilated seats , headlamps washer .
Overall this is gonna rival with SUV but looking at its features and performance this is packed spacious sedan with great engine response .If you have a pocket friendly business class sedan , Octavia is the good choice for you .
