MG Hector Facelift, Comfy Spacious Suv
The rising popularity of the SUV segment is fulfilled by the demand for space, comfort, and safety equipment. But now the buyer aspirations have stepped up and they have begun to demand more from the manufacturers.
To complete the needs of modern day buyers, MG motor launched its Hector suv in 2019 , also followed by the launch of Hector plus in last year. This time MG refreshed its Hector line up with the set of cosmetic updates, this 2021 Hector gets 5 seats options and Hector plus with 6 and 7 seats configuration. The 2021 MG Hector offered in 19 variants with 5 engine options.

After looking to its wide range of engines and transmission, we are reviewing the MG Hector sharp 1.5 petrol CVT .
The 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine produces 141 bhp of power @5000RPM and 250 NM of torque @1600RPM, this engine is mated with 6 speed continuous variable transmission (CVT). This petrol engine gives us 13.96 KMPL claimed fuel economy, but in real life it will return somewhere about 10 KMPL.
CVT transmission only offered in sharp and smart variants, this gearbox gets sports and eco mode with triptronic function as well. This gearbox is very silent and comfortable for city driving, that make your driving seamless. The Hector is not aggressive car where you can push it very hard and enjoy the speed, this is only for comfort and space with features that offers.
The length of 2021 Hector is 4655 mm , width is 1835 mm and height is 1760 mm. Wheelbase is 2750 mm, which is biggest in its segment with longest as well. Ground clearance is 210 mm and runs on 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
At front we get large chrome pinned grill with that big MG logo, below that logo we get front parking camera and parking sensors. Headlamps unit doesn’t change, we get led projector headlamps with led drl and dynamic swipe indicators.
The vehicle comes with its typical boxy appeal, Hector has retained the squared wheel arches, tall roofline and large overhangs, the older 17 inch alloy wheels appeared undersized for the overall proportion of the SUV;
but now it comes with 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels with dual tone colour options. The roof gets black colour in dual tone colour options with massive panoramic sunroof and shark fin antenna, the ORVM gets electric adjust and retractable with heated function also.
Moving to the rear, the led taillights running throughout the tailgate has now been replaced with glossy black tailgate garnished. The dynamic swipe indicators also continued in taillights, the rear windscreen gets wiper washer with defogger.
It’s all black rear bumper continues that silver inserts with that fake exhaust as well, now inside the vehicle we get dual tone beige colour interior with soft touch material on dashboard. The 10.5 inch vertically stacked out touchscreen infotainment system attracts you in your first meet with the interior,
like old Hector it comes with radio, media, navigation, vehicle settings, air conditioning control, driving information and now it gets updated I-smart system with segment and industries first Hinglish voice command.
The internet SUV can now also understand and respond to over 35+ Hinglish commands that control various in-car functions such as Sunroof (‘Khul Ja Sim Sim’), FM (‘FM Chalao’), AC (‘Temperature Kam kar do’), fan speed (‘fan speed badha do’ or ‘fan speed kum kar do’), and more. Now the Hector also gets wireless charging pad with seat ventilation function,
the ventilated seats control button is not easily accessible, it’s is near the glove box and while driving the car you have to go all the way to your legs to operate that seat ventilation. The gear liver finished in piano black which is a big finger print magnet,

The centre console gets lots of storage space with centre armrest also, the rear seat is the real USP of this Hector. Because of three adjustable headrest and flat floor, three people seat comfortably in second row.
Headroom and knee room is not an issue with this suv, boot space is massive 587 litres and also increased by splitting the second row in 60:40 proportion. Large windows and big panoramic sunroof makes the cabin airy and roomy, now the 2021 Hector gets lots of new additional features like,

Price of this 2021 MG Hector start from 13.49L to 19.05L (Ex.showroom), which the price of sharp CVT variants is 18.69L (ex-showroom). At this mid range it directly rivals to Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos , Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Jeep Compass, MG ZS EV and its big brother MG Hector plus.
