Mahindra XUV700, Great Packaging and Pocket Friendly SUV
After covering all India with that camouflage, finally Mahindra raise the curtains of XUV700. Yes Mahindra XUV700 launched in India with its new logo, this new xuv 700 made on global W601 platform which is new evolution of design and powertrain options.
Booking of XUV700 opens, its introductory price revealed but not officially launched. Recently it’s production lineup starts and starting reaching dealership to first week of Sep ahead of its launched. basically it gets two series-MX and AX now only lower trims revealed, higher trim don’t revealed yet.
Features and all the power terrain options completely revealed, XUV700 comes with two engine options-1) 2.0L TGDI Petrol motor producing 200PS of power with redlines at 5000RPM and 380NM of torque with redlines at 3000RPM, this petrol engine gets 6 speed manual and automatic transmission options. 2) 2.2L Turbo Diesel motor producing 185PS of power with redlines at 3500RPM and 420NM of torque with redlines at 2800RPM ( +30NM in AT),
this Diesel engine also gets 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox options. Press cars is top of the line variant with 2.2L diesel motor, that Diesel engine gives us 9 to 13 KMPL claimed average fuel economy. The diesel engine also gets Zip, Zap, Zoom driving modes. Basically, Zip mode is like an eco mode, Zap mode is like comfort/city mode and Zoom mode is like sport mode,
these modes alter the performance and there’s a custom mode too. The petrol automatic engine feels us more aggressive compared with that diesel motor, but this is a petrol motor and in actual road this is a big fat gas guzzler. Compared to XUV500, this XUV700 is 110mm longer 30mm shorter in height. Both the vehicles have the same width, while the XUV700’s wheelbase is longer by 50 mm.
The length of XUV700 is 4695mm, width is 1890mm and height is 1755mm. Wheelbase is 2750mm and ground clearance is approx 210 mm , the vehicle runs on 18 inch alloys while lower variants we got 17 inch. The Mahindra XUV700 is based on a new platform and the vehicle does look much better than what it looked like in those spy pictures which were leaked.
Yes, it has some design cues from the XUV500 but overall I think Mahindra has done a pretty decent job with the design of the vehicle. At front we get glossy black 7 slatted grill which we found it to bit flimsy, below this grill we get front parking camera with chrome finish new Mahindra logo.
The bumper finished in body paint and get front parking sensors and led fog lamps, the headlights unit are now completely led’s. Because of that L shape long running LED drl , sometimes they will remind you the XUV500.
Mahindra names it the clear view lights which are automatic and also have dynamic swipe indicators, the XUV700 has a muscular profile with very prominent shoulder lines and a curve near the C-pillar which also comes from XUV500.
The XUV700 runs on 18 inch dual tone alloy wheels, the roof is like itself massive and comes with large panoramic sunroof which Mahindra names it skyroof and claimed it biggest in its segment.
Attention to detail is that smart door handles which senses you and comes out automatically, this smart door handles are in optional pack. ORVM is big and there’s small camera mounted below it, the XUV700 has a tasteful looking tail section. At rear we don’t get all led unit , brake light and reverse lamp found in halogen, this taillights is named as arrow tail lamps.
The windscreen got wiper washer with defogger also, the bumper finished in black with 2 parking sensors on it. Interior layout of XUV700 is completely changed and gets better quality material, inside this suv we get dual tone beige colour theme with glossy black and wooden finish.
Dashboard finished in soft leather but the lowered half gets scratchy hard plastic, on this dashboard we get 10.25 inch dual screen (one for infotainment and one for instrument cluster), the infotainment screen is now comes with very better resolution and android auto and apple car play.
This 10.5 infotainment system is powered by adrenoX which is available in AX trim. That adrenoX gets 60+ connected features like, voice command, vehicle lock unlock through mobile, temperature preset by remote, voice enabled sunroof,
vehicle navigation and also capable for smart watch and Alexa home. The second screen is also 10.25 inch which is a digital instrument cluster, in that instrument cluster we have see trip meter, fuel economy, TPMS, ADAS and other regular stuff which we are seen in lots of car.
The centre console is loaded with air conditioning control, wireless charging pad with USB’s, AC vents, chrome finished gear liver, electric parking brake , two cup holders and a centre armrest with some amount of storage space. The steering wheel is finished in leather and got mounted controls on it, the dashboard and centre console will remind you some Mercedes Benz cars definitely.
While there’s lots of things that Mahindra takes from Mercedes feature book, the front seats are huge and comfortable while the driver seats is 7 ways electrically adjustable. Like that the second row is long and wide and because of the flat floor three people can seats comfortably,
headroom and knee room is not an issue with this suv, large windows and big sunroof makes the cabin airy and roomy. Third row is accessible by tumbling the second row seat, this row is to bit on lower side, so under thighs support is not good in this row. This row is good for children’s, with the third row up we get small amount of boot carrying capacity.
But we can increased it by folding the third row in 50:50 format, this will makes the boot so big and you can fit your luggage properly. All the rows gets AC vents with cup holders also, this cabin is loaded with lots of features like, dual zone climate control, automatic wipers with automatic headlights,
450W 12 speakers Sony 3D surround sound system with subwoofer and 12 channels amplifier, 7 ways electrically adjustable driver seat with memory seats function, digital instrument cluster, large skyroof,
smart door handles, welcome seat function, smart knob, shark fin antenna, engine start stop button, sunglass holders and more. Overall interior feels very nice when compared to XUV500, but otherwise the quality of material would be much better.
This new age suv is comes with lots of advanced safety tech like, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, brake assist, electronic stability program,
all wheel disc brakes, 360 degree parking camera and front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitor, electronic parking brake with auto hold function,
TPMS, isofix child seat anchors and also first in the segment ADAS. This ADAS stands for advanced driving assistance system, this ADAS contains high beam assist which automatically switch the lights in low beam if any car coming from forward,
traffic sign recognition which reads speed limits on the road, adaptive cruise control which adjusts your speed from according to your front car, front collision warning which applies brakes automatically if the car feels any sudden obstacles,
lane keep assist which keeps you centre of road, smart pilots assist, driver drowsiness detection which awake you if you feel drowsy or sleepy.
Mahindra also gives optional pack in this suv this optional pack contained, AWD, electronic parking brake, memory seats function, smart door handles, ADAS, 5 seats or 7 seats, blind spot monitoring system and more.
Colour options of XUV700 don’t revealed yet, the introductory price of XUV700 starts from 11.99 lakhs, this is the MX trim price means lowest trim. Looking to its aggressive price we will sure that it’s top end variant undercut safari easily, after the official launch this three row suv compete with Tata Safari, Tata Harrier, MG Hector plus, MG Hector, Hyundai Alcazar, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos , Skoda Kushaq.
The on road price of MX trim will easily go near 15 lakhs, this is good price compared to its rival and after its launched this XUV700 easily grows up in the sales report. After the XUV700 launched we make one more review on it and analysis the car, till then the XUV700 is hit or miss?
