BMW has introduced the long wheelbase version of the 5 Series in India, with an ex-showroom price starting at Rs 72.90 lakhs. Pre-launch bookings for the 5 Series have already started and can be made through the company’s website or at BMW dealerships. Deliveries of BMW 5 Series LWB are set to begin in September 2024. Notably, this is the first time BMW has launched the long wheelbase version of the 5 Series sedan in India. Globally, the automaker has sold over 10 million units of the 5 Series sedan since the first generation was launched in 1972.

Highlights- 5 Series LWB
The latest-generation BMW 5 Series LWB measures 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105mm. Compared to the regular 5 Series sedan, it is 145mm longer, with 110mm of that extra length coming from the extended wheelbase. This model features a large illuminated kidney grille with adaptive LED headlamps. The body has sharp lines for a sporty look. It runs on 18-inch alloy wheels, with an option for lighter 19-inch M alloy wheels. The door handles are concealed, and there’s chrome detailing around the windows for a premium touch. The taillights are all LED with L-shaped brake lights.
Inside, the new-generation 5 Series offers a curved dual-screen setup on the dashboard. This includes a 14.9-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch driver’s display. Additionally, it features a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, reclining rear seats, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. For convenience, it has USB Type-C charging ports and electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats.

Powertrain – BMW 5 series LWB
BMW 5 Series is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder petrol engine which churns out 258 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. Mated to a 8 speed automatic gearbox, it sprints 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. The top speed of car is 250 km/h. This 2.0 litre petrol engine is combined with a 48V electric motor which is used to get better fuel efficiency. In India, BMW 5 Series LWB will compete with Mercedes Benz E Class, Audi A6, Volvo S90.
