MG Astor, Tech Loaded ICE Powered ZS EV
The most engaged and crowded segment in India is now compact suv, we get lots of options in this segment. Many companies are moving towards this segment, like that MG recently unveiled its one more compact suv Astor. This is a facelift of ZS EV which comes with ICE, we already reviewed the MG ZS EV you can read it by clicking here.
In upcoming years we can also get its electric version because this is the future, but now let’s focus on Astor. This MG Astor not launched yet but we can get it in this coming months. This is not a full detail review, today we only write first look and some highlights. After its launch in India we write it again in detail. It measures 4,323mm in length, 1,809 in width, and has a height of 1,650mm. Wheelbase is 2,585mm which is smaller than Creta and Seltos by 25mm.
The fact is Astor is bigger in terms of length, width and height by its rival. Now only two engine options revealed, 1.5 l naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces 110ps of power with redlines at 6000RPM and 144Nm of torque with redlines at 4400RPM. Second engine options is 1.4 l turbocharged engine which produces 140Ps of power with redlines at 5600RPM and 220Nm of torque with redlines at 3600RPM.
We don’t get Diesel options in its lineup and this 1.5L engine gets 5 speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox options, but the 1.4L turbo engine gets only 6 speed torque converter gearbox. Front bumper is revised and gets chrome finished celestial grill with big MG logo on it. The headlight unit is all led unit with led projector headlamps and led drl also, fog lamps is halogen with piano black finishing there.
In the headlights we get 9 crystals treatment which looks so premium and attractive at night, vehicle runs on 17 inch diamond cut dual tone alloy wheels with all wheels disc brakes.
The vehicle comes with black coloured side body cladding and lots of badging like AI inside written on fenders, ADAS written on tailgate and more. The door handles gets chrome finished with request sensors as well, the roof of the vehicle is massive which comes with roof rails, gloss black finished shark fin antenna and massive panoramic sunroof. Tailgate of the vehicle don’t change, it continues that all led unit with boldly written Astor below the MG logo.
The rear bumper is finished in black with chrome finished fake exhaust and also parking sensors on it. The boot space of the vehicle is not revealed but it is massive in terms of size and likely to get space between 400 to 450 litres. The design of the vehicle is very similar to the ZS EV, but looks super amazing in white colour.
In the interior Astor gets three colour options in dual tone trim, dashboard is finished in fibre but below that we have to see lots of soft touch material, the fact is we have lot of soft touch finished in inside like door pad, dashboard and centre console as well. In the centre console we get 10 inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless android auto and apple car play, in this infotainment system we get radio, media,
navigation, 360 degree parking camera, ADAS settings, vehicle settings, Jio savan app, vehicle settings, instrument cluster settings, air conditioning control, blind spot monitoring and also i-smart with 80+ connected features like voice command, remote engine start stop,
remote door lock and unlock, digital key, geo fencing, vehicle settings, service information, brake down alert and many more. In this system we also gets air conditioning control which we don’t get any physical control for this, below that screen we have 2 usb and wireless charging pad with charging ports also. So in centre console we have lots of storage space, thanks to the centre armrest and twin cup holders.
The steering wheel is flat bottom with switches on it, this switches controls that 7 inch digital instrument cluster. In this digital instrument cluster we get speedometer, tachometer, TPMS and lots of other safety features. The biggest attention to detail is that AI personal assistant robot which is placed on the dashboard which tells us news,
jokes, Wikipedia information, in car control, chit chat, hinglish command and also it turns after hearing your sound. Rear seats gets decent amount of space with two AC vents and rear three height adjustable headrest,
because of the large windows and that big panoramic sunroof the cabin feels very airy and don’t feel claustrophobic. In the features list it comes with panoramic sunroof, rain sensing wipers, engine start stop button, 6 ways power adjustable driver seat, automatic headlamps, PM 2.5 air filter,
automatic air conditioning control, power steering with 3 steering mode, digital car key, heated ORVM, electric adjustable and retractable ORVM and more. This 2021 MG Astor comes with Autonomous level || which gets 6 airbags, ABS and EBD, brake assist, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control,
all wheel disc brakes, isofix child seat anchor point, electric parking brake with auto hold function, TPMS, 360 degree parking camera, front fog lamps with corner function and more. So in safety this Astor is loaded with tons of features, but except this it gets also 14 autonomous features like lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, rear drive assist,
blind spot assist, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, speed warning assist, intelligent headlamps control and more. This suv is offered in 5 colours options.

Price of the MG Astor don’t revealed yet but it can be price between 10 to 17 lakhs (Ex-showroom),
in this price slot Astor compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 700, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and also Volkswagen Tiagun. After its price revealed we make a detailed review again on it.
