Audi has introduced the new A5, replacing the previous A4. This change marks a significant shift for Audi’s long-time bestseller. Now produced in Neckarsulm, the Audi A5 comes in four variants: A5 Sedan, S5 Sedan, A5 Avant, and S5 Avant. These models are the first to launch on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), showcasing Audi’s latest advancements.
New A5 Design Highlights –
The new Audi A5 has grown, being 67 mm longer and 13 mm wider. It now measures 4.84 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, and has a wheelbase of 2.9 meters, which is 68 mm longer. The A5 showcases an impressive design with a long wheelbase and a low, sporty body that enhances aerodynamics. It retains the sloping roofline from the A4 and features a clean bonnet line with a honeycomb grille. The headlamps and tail lamps come with OLED lights, featuring 60 segments per digital OLED panel. At the rear, the A5 has infinity running brake lights, a slightly revised bumper, and a diffuser. Additionally, it sports rectangular exhaust tips, adding to its sporty appeal.

Audi A5 Interior and Features –
The interior of the new Audi A5 closely resembles that of the new Audi Q6 e-tron. It features a large curved display that includes two screens: an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, there is a 10.9-inch screen placed above the glove box for the front passenger, which is an optional feature. For safety reasons, this screen is not visible to the driver while driving. All these OLED screens are integrated into Audi’s MMI system. Furthermore, the A5 is equipped with a heads-up display that provides various driving information. Overall, the interior of the Audi A5 is a work of art, offering numerous features and a premium feel.

Audi A5 Powertrain and Performance –
The powertrain of the Audi A5 has seen significant improvements, with the introduction of 48V mild-hybrid engine options. This hybrid system, known as Audi’s MHEV Plus, helps to reduce CO2 emissions and enhance fuel efficiency. The A5 offers various engine choices: a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine that delivers 150hp and 340Nm of torque, optionally paired with Audi’s Quattro AWD system.

There is also a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that produces 204hp and 400Nm of torque, combined with the MHEV Plus system. The top-spec S5 features a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine producing 367hp and 550Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox. This engine also benefits from the mild-hybrid system for improved fuel efficiency.
Audi A5 Prices and India Launch –

The all-new Audi A5 is set to launch in Europe in November 2024, with bookings already open in Germany. Meanwhile, in India, the Audi A4 hasn’t seen an update since September 2022, and the automaker hasn’t shown any progress on launching an updated A4. We expect Audi to bring the A5 to the Indian market next year, although the company hasn’t made any official comments about the Indian launch yet. In Germany, the new A5 will start at a price of 45,200 EUR (approximately Rs 41.17 lakhs).
