Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of the next-generation Swift, set to hit Indian markets in the second week of May. This eagerly awaited model was initially revealed at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo back in October 2023. Maruti Suzuki Swift has been introduced in Japan, the UK, and certain European markets. Notably, this marks the fourth generation of the Swift, featuring a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine. However, for the Indian market, it is anticipated that Maruti Suzuki will opt to retain the existing 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine to maintain cost efficiency.
Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 New Platform –
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is built on Suzuki’s well-known ‘HEARTECT’ platform, renowned for its lightweight and sturdy construction. According to Suzuki, significant revisions were made to the underbody structure and component arrangement during the development phase, resulting in the adoption of a highly rigid frame that improves collision safety. While these enhancements have been made for the global model, it remains uncertain what specific modifications Maruti Suzuki will implement for the India-specific version before it goes on sale.
Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 Engine Details–
A newly developed three-cylinder petrol engine has been designed for the upcoming Swift. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 82bhp along with a slightly higher torque figure of 112Nm at 4,500rpm. Acceleration times to 100kmph have been improved by 5 percent, reaching 12.5 seconds for the manual model and 11.9 seconds for the optional CVT. However, it is expected that the India-specific model will stick with the current 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine, which generates 89bhp and 113Nm of torque.
