All New Maruti Suzuki Swift Received Four Stars In JNCAP

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift is set to make its debut in India this May, almost six months after its Japanese premiere. The new generation of the Swift has already made headlines in its home market due to its impressive performance in the latest round of the Japan New Car Assessment Programme (JNCAP). It achieved a four-star rating in collision performance and excelled in ADAS testing, scoring 5/5 in six out of the seven tests.

Even in the one test where it did not achieve a perfect score—pedal misapplication—it still managed to secure 4/5. For the Japanese market, the new Swift is equipped with level-2 ADAS as a standard feature across all variants, showcasing its commitment to safety and advanced technology.

In the collision tests conducted by JNCAP, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift demonstrated strong performance across various scenarios. It earned a perfect score of 5/5 in the full-wrap frontal collision test (passenger’s seat), side collision test (driver’s seat), neck injury protection in rear-end collisions (both passenger and driver’s seats), and pedestrian leg protection performance test.

Maruti Suzuki Swift also received a commendable 4/5 in the full-wrap frontal collision test (driver’s seat), offset frontal collision test (driver’s seat), pedestrian head protection performance test, and passenger seat belt reminder (PSBR) test. The lowest score was 3/5 in the offset frontal collision test (rear passenger’s seat). Overall, the Swift secured a total of four stars and a score of 177.80 out of 197 points. Given these results, it’s likely that the Indian-spec Swift will perform well in BNCAP crash tests and achieve a respectable safety rating.
