- Citroen Basalt will be offered with two petrol engine options
- Launch scheduled in 2025
- Lacks in Features and tech compared to Curvv
Citroen has finally unveiled all new Basalt, Tata Curvv rival. The Basalt is fourth model from Citroen in India, and built on C-cubed programme. Citroen Basalt will be also available in global markets like South American and European markets soon.
Design Highlights – Citroen Basalt
The Citroen Basalt stands out with its coupe-like styling, featuring a sloping roofline that sets it apart from other midsize SUVs. The design includes a chrome-finished Citroen logo, LED headlights, a two-part grille, LED DRLs, and a silver skid plate at the front. The side profile closely follows the design sketches, showcasing squared wheel arches, body-colored door handles, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the Basalt is equally distinctive with halogen taillights, a dual-tone bumper in black and silver, and a black shark fin antenna.
Features – Citroen Basalt
Inside the Citroen Basalt, you’ll find a dashboard similar to the C3, but with several new features. It now includes a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. The car offers features like wireless charging, a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, automatic climate control, a front armrest, rear AC vents, and adjustable thigh support for the rear seats. Citroen has significantly improved the cabin quality with dual-tone finishes throughout the interior. For safety, the Basalt comes equipped with six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, and a tire pressure monitor.
Powertrain – Citroen Basalt
Unlike the C3 Aircross, the Basalt will come with two engine options: the standard 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.2-litre turbo petrol. The naturally aspirated unit generates 82bhp and 155Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the turbo petrol engine delivers 109bhp and 190Nm of torque with the manual transmission, and 205Nm with the automatic transmission.
