The much-anticipated coupe SUV from Citroen, formerly known as the C3X, has finally been unveiled as the Basalt, directly competing with the Tata Curvv. Scheduled for release in the latter half of 2024, the Basalt introduces a distinctive notchback design reminiscent of a sedan but with a raised stance. Transitioning to the front, the grille mirrors that of the C3 Aircross, accompanied by newly designed LED headlights, revised front bumpers, and fresh alloy wheel designs. Additionally, the Basalt showcases robust wheel arches and a dual-tone exterior finish. Moving to the rear, attention is drawn to the wraparound LED taillights, accented by a silver faux plate and prominently featuring the Citroen logo at the center.
Expected to offer a range of modern features, the interior of the coupe SUV is anticipated to include a spacious infotainment screen with wireless connectivity, a digital driver’s display, keyless entry, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and cruise control. Safety features are also likely to be abundant, with anticipated offerings such as six airbags as standard, a rear parking camera with sensors, ISOFIX mounts, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). While technical specifications have yet to be disclosed by the automaker, it is anticipated that the Basalt will retain the same engine as the Citroen C3 Aircross. Beneath the surface, it is expected to house a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 109bhp and 205Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or torque converter unit.
