Hyundai India has been actively testing an all-electric version of its popular model, the Creta, in the country. The Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted testing multiple times, and the latest spy shots reveal the interior of the SUV, unveiling several new details.
In the images, the Creta EV appears to have a similar design to its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. However, there are distinct design elements that differentiate it from the standard Creta. These include a blanked-off grille featuring a front camera, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and newly designed aero-patterned alloy wheels. Notably, the charging flap will be located at the front of the vehicle.
Now, for the first time, we get a glimpse of the SUV’s interior. The Hyundai Creta EV will feature a twin-display unit for both the infotainment system and instrument cluster. Additionally, the steering wheel will undergo a makeover with a different logo style, similar to EVs sold by the Korean automaker in global markets. Moreover, the drive mode selector will be mounted on the steering column.
In terms of specifications, the Creta EV will come equipped with a reasonably sized battery pack, allowing the model to achieve a claimed range of over 500km. Recently, the automaker, along with its sister brand Kia, initiated plans to partner with Exide Energy for the localization of electric vehicle batteries in India. This collaboration could potentially result in the model being priced slightly lower than initially anticipated, thanks to locally sourced battery technology.
Upon its launch, the Hyundai Creta EV will emerge as a competitive option for buyers considering the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, or the MG ZS EV in the segment.
