Stellantis has confirmed that a new-generation Jeep Renegade is under development and will debut by 2027. Additionally, the company announced that the new Renegade will include a battery-electric model priced under USD 25,000. As Jeep and Citroen are both part of the Stellantis Group in India, Jeep is likely to introduce a fully electric SUV based on the Renegade, built on Citroen’s CMP platform.

What is CMP platform ?
CMP, or Common Modular Platform, is developed by Stellantis and the French car manufacturer PSA Group. In India, the Citroen C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross are all underpinned by the CMP platform. Although Jeep previously announced that the next-generation Renegade would be built on the company’s STLA small platform, Stellantis might consider the CMP platform for the Indian market. This strategic move would enable Jeep to price the Renegade aggressively, making it more competitive in the market.
Stellantis is planning to introduce the next-generation Jeep Renegade in India using the CMP platform, which is not compatible with an ICE 4×4 powertrain. However, the global market will see the updated Renegade built on the STLA platform. Stellantis also aims to bring an electric version of the Renegade to India in the coming years.

Jeep Renegade EV India Rivals –
With the delayed launch of the next-gen Compass in India, we might see a fully electric SUV based on the Renegade. Although the name of this SUV has not been decided yet, the automaker is likely to price it competitively to take on other EV SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and upcoming models like the Tata Curvv EV, Tata Sierra EV, Tata Harrier EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Kia Carens EV, and Honda Elevate EV.
