Land Rover Defender, Most Capable Land Rover Yet.

In India Land Rover recently launched its new updated Defender, this updated version comes with more new tech and great performance.

This new defender comes with 5 variants- Standard, S, SE, HSE and First Edition with lots of customizable options, basically this suv is divided in two main divisions – 90 and 110 that means

90 variants are three doors and 110 variants are 5 doors with longer wheelbase. Defender built on D7X aluminium architecture monocoque platform, under the hood we gets 5 engine options- 1997cc petrol, 2995cc petrol, 2996cc petrol, 1997cc diesel, 2996cc diesel.

We are reviewing the 110 P300 SE which is powered by 2.0L turbocharged petrol unit producing 300 bhp of power with @5500 Rpm and 400 NM of torque with @1500 Rpm. This petrol engine gives us single digit fuel economy, but this is totally depend on

our driving style but at regular city driving defender gets 9 to 11 kmpl, all engines are mated with 8 speed torque converter which the power goes all the wheels because it gets 4WD. We know that it’s current generation gets body on frame platform but this new generation built on monocoque chassis.

It’s length width and height are following respectively- 5018mm, 2105mm, 1967mm. This massive sized suv gets 3022mm of wheelbase and 218mm of ground clearance which we can increase through air suspension.

At front we get small black grill with Land Rover logo and DEFENDER written in matt black finish on hood, below the grill we get silver finish on bumper with front parking camera and parking sensors.

The attention to detail is that circular led headlights unit with square shaped led indicators, below the headlamps we get fog lamps also.

This defender runs on 20 inch five spoke black alloy wheels, in orvm we gets electric adjust, auto dimming, memory function, heated function, puddle lamps and also camera .

On side there is black body cladding which running throughout the vehicle, at rear we get a full sized spare wheel which is hanging on the fifth door, taillights gets square shaped with square turn indicators.

There is also shark fin antenna on roof, but this antenna also gets camera in it which turns irvm with touch of our buttons.

But Land Rover likes to hide things, like wipers washer hide behind the spare wheels, reverse parking camera hides below the spare wheel.

In inside we get dual tone interior with massive sized panoramic sunroof, the dashboard gets lots of rubber finish and hard plastic on it. The centre console gets Land Rover PIVI pro which is a 10 inch touchscreen

infotainment system with navigation, radio, media, vehicle settings, terrain response system, off-road mode, camera, connected car, driving style, compass, climate control, driving data and more. Below the infotainment screen we get small gear liver with all that P-R-N-D stuff and also get trip-tronic function because it doesn’t

get paddle shifters. There is also two dials to adjust many settings like terrain modes (eco, comfort, grass, gravel, snow, mud, ruts, sand, rock, crawl ), ride height adjustments. In the centre console we get two cup holders with

wireless charging pad and a cooled centre armrest. The fact is all that driving control that we get in centre console, defender gets all that in dashboard because we can also gets one more seats either the centre console

and gets one more sun wiser behind the irvm. The steering wheel gets mounted control on it and electric adjustable also, that switches

controls the 10 inch digital instrument cluster with lots of themes and settings in it. In the second row seats gets sufficient legroom and knee room, three people can seats comfortably because we didn’t get any

hump in the centre. This is a proper suv, so we can also use this to jungle safari therefore Land Rover gives

us proper jungle safari or giraffe windows to enjoy tall animals. Coming to the third row, there is not any as much space this row

is suitable for children’s and also not comfortable for long journeys. When all three rows up it’s gets 180 litres of boot space but if we recline the third row we get massive sized 857 litres of boot space. There is lots of attention to detail bits like defender

gets independent air suspension which we can also increase and decrease the height of the vehicle, the orvm project’s defender logo at night, rear parking camera gets washer because of its lowered position, in infotainment

we get off-road mode which we can see departure angle and many crazy off-road tech, when in off-road mode we can see below the vehicle to see anything under the vehicle, all in the interior there are exposed screws to

gets the retro charms. The defender comes with really tons of features like meridian sounds system, panoramic sunroof,

automatic headlamps and automatic wipers, touch sensible reading lights, 12 ways electrically adjustable driver and co-driver seats with memory seats function, clear eye sight camera,

three zone climate control, electrically adjustable steering wheel with memory function, cooled centre armrest, ambient lighting, heads up display,

ventilated seats in higher variants also. This is a proper 4×4 off-road capable vehicle, so in off-road mode we get departure angles, steering angle,

clearsight interior rear view monitor, clear sight ground view, matrix lights for bad weather, defender roof can load upto 300 kg, approach angle

of 38 degree, departure angle of 40 degree, electronic differential lock with all wheel drive,

electronic air suspension which we can increase height by 220 mm and decrease by 70 mm, water wading capacity upto 900 mm and we can also

gets towing capability upto 3500 Kg. In safety defender gets 5 stars in Euro NCAP and more like, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP, hill hold control, traction control, hill decent control,

360 degree parking camera with front and rear parking sensors, bird sight camera, heads up display, all wheel disc brakes, TPMS, isofix child seat anchor point and adaptive cruise control also.

This suv comes with connected car features also, in this landy we get tons of accessories and customizable options like,

11 alloy wheels across three size, custom roof options, interior colours and more. But in accessories there are inflatable waterproof awning,

body protection kits, deployable side steps, integrated air compressor, seats cover, illuminated treadplates, bicycle carrier, snow board carrier,
