With the introduction of the Defender Octa, Land Rover aims to elevate its iconic Defender lineup to new heights. Derived from the Octahedron diamond, the name signifies strength and resilience, echoing the vehicle’s rugged capabilities. The upcoming off-roader will showcase a fresh design language, featuring a signature graphic inspired by the diamond’s facets. This visual overhaul will set the tone for future flagship Defender models, promising a striking presence on and off the road.
While specific technical details have not been disclosed, the Defender Octa will boast a V8 turbo mild-hybrid petrol engine, delivering unparalleled performance. Additionally, it will be equipped with a 6D dynamics air suspension system, ensuring optimal performance across various terrains.

The technical specifics are mostly kept confidential, yet JLR has affirmed that the new variant will employ a twin-turbocharged V8 engine instead of the supercharged ‘AJ’ unit present in current eight-cylinder Defender models. It’s probable that the engine will be the 4.4-litre BMW-sourced unit utilized in different Range Rover models, such as the Sport SV. In those vehicles, it delivers 618hp and 800Nm of torque, enabling the hefty SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in merely 3.8 seconds.
