The launch timeline for the highly anticipated five-door Thar has been revealed by Mahindra India, with the lifestyle off-roader set to make its debut in the country on 15 August 2024. Known for making significant announcements, model reveals, and launches on Independence Day, the Indian automaker has chosen this date for the unveiling.
Design Updates Expected in 5 Door Thar –
The upcoming variant of the Thar will maintain the same silhouette as its three-door counterpart but with a longer wheelbase and the addition of two extra doors. Design enhancements include revised front and rear bumpers, a tweaked front grille, circular LED headlamps with DRLs, LED fog lamps, pillar-mounted rear door handles, and larger 19-inch redesigned alloy wheels. Additionally, the five-door off-roader will feature an electrically adjustable single-pane sunroof, front camera, and front parking sensors.
Interior and Rivals of Five Door Thar –
Moving on to the interiors, significant upgrades are expected in the cabin of the five-door Thar compared to the current version. It is anticipated to feature a larger infotainment system, offering wireless smartphone connectivity, along with a digital instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, a redesigned center console, an auto-dimming IRVM, and refreshed seat upholstery. As for the powertrain, the Thar five-door is likely to retain the same engine options as the three-door variant, with transmission choices also expected to remain unchanged from the current model. Once launched, the Mahindra five-door Thar will find itself competing against the Maruti Jimny and the forthcoming five-door Force Gurkha in the lifestyle off-roader segment.
