- Dacia Duster is anticipated to launch in India next year
- Received 70% for adult and 84% for child protection
- Dacia Duster features ADAS, 6 Airbags

The third-generation Dacia Duster recently underwent Euro NCAP’s crash tests and received a 3-star safety rating. Impressively, it achieved 70 percent for adult occupant protection and 84 percent for child occupant protection. However, it scored 57 percent for safety assist systems and 60 percent for vulnerable road users. This mixed performance highlights areas of strength in protecting passengers, while also pointing out the need for improvement in its safety assist features and protection for pedestrians and cyclists.
Dacia Duster Crash Test Summary –
In the Euro NCAP crash tests, the third-generation Dacia Duster showed a mix of strengths and weaknesses. The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal offset test, with good protection for knees and femurs, but the driver’s chest protection was weak. In the full-width rigid barrier test, chest protection was marginal for both the driver and rear passenger. On the bright side, the side barrier and side pole impact tests showed good protection for all critical body areas, earning maximum points in these areas.

For child safety, the Duster provided good protection for most critical body areas of 6-year and 10-year-old dummies, except for adequate protection of the 10-year-old dummy’s neck. The car allows for rearward-facing child restraints but lacks a child presence detection system. All designed child restraint types could be properly installed.

The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed adequately for other vehicles and pedestrians, and well for cyclists. However, the rear seatbelt reminder didn’t score points due to the lack of an occupant detection system. The lane support system works well, gently correcting the vehicle’s path.
Pedestrian and cyclist head protection was generally good or adequate, though the windscreen pillars and base performed poorly. Pelvis protection was poor in all tests, scoring no points. Overall, the AEB system’s response to pedestrians was adequate and good for cyclists.
