In July 2023, Kia India introduced the Seltos facelift, showcasing refreshed exterior design, an upgraded interior, new engine choices, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). In this comparison, we evaluate the Seltos against its sibling, the Hyundai Creta, to determine which one offers a superior choice for consumers.
Exterior Difference in Both SUV’s –
The Seltos indeed showcases a stylish appearance with its iconic tiger-nose grille and elongated LED daytime running lights (DRLs). It features connected LED taillights, and the range of alloy wheels varies from 16 inches to 18 inches in size. On the other hand, the Creta exhibits contrasting window line accents, chrome door handles, and headlamps integrated into the front bumper. Since these SUVs are DNA cousins, both have a similar wheelbase of 2,610mm. In terms of other measurements, the Seltos is longer by 65mm at 4,365mm and wider and taller by 10mm.Â
Interior and Features –
The 2023 Seltos comes with notable upgrades including a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a fully digital and colored instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, and a choice of five interior themes. It also introduces advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) for the first time. On the other hand, the current Creta features an analog instrument cluster and single-zone climate control. However, the upcoming facelift for the Creta, expected to be launched next year, is anticipated to bring a digital instrument cluster and Level 2 ADAS features, enhancing its technology offerings.
Powertrain –
The Kia Seltos facelift and Hyundai Creta offer similar engine options. Both vehicles are equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that generates 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. These engines are compliant with BS6 Phase 2 emission norms and can be paired with manual or automatic transmissions.
However, there is a difference in the turbocharged petrol engine. While the Hyundai Creta no longer offers a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine, the new Seltos facelift is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 158bhp and 253Nm of torque.
The bookings for the Seltos facelift are currently open, and the prices are expected to be announced in September 2023. The starting price is anticipated to be around Rs. 11.50 lakh, while the top-end variant may reach up to Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
