Tata Motors has unveiled new entry-level variants of the Nexon, aimed at making the SUV more cheaper amongst its rivals. Introduction of these new Tata Nexon variants comes shortly after the arrival of its competitor XUV 3XO in the market. With the Nexon petrol now starting at Rs 8 lakh and the diesel variants priced from Rs 10 lakh, Tata aims to enhance its competitive edge in the segment.
The newly introduced Smart (O) variant for the Nexon petrol is priced at Rs 8 lakh, offering customers a more affordable option compared to the previous base variant. This strategic move is intended to counter the competitive pricing of lower variants of the XUV 3XO, which starts from Rs 7.49 lakh.
Furthermore, Tata Motors has also revised the pricing for the Smart + and Smart + S variants, reducing them by Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. The Tata Nexon Smart + variant is now available at Rs 8.90 lakh, while the Smart + S variant is priced at Rs 9.40 lakh. In addition to these changes, two new diesel variants, Smart + and Smart + S, have been introduced. The Smart + variant serves as the new entry-level option, priced at Rs 10 lakh, while the Smart + S variant costs Rs 10.60 lakh.
With the addition of these variants, the starting price of the Nexon diesel has been reduced by Rs 1.10 lakh. Despite these adjustments, there have been no alterations to the mechanical aspects of the compact SUV. The Tata Nexon continues to offer a choice between a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 120hp and 170Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit producing 115hp and 260Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The Tata Nexon maintains its competition against models such as the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
