The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor has been launched in India, marking the sixth product resulting from the Toyota-Maruti Suzuki collaboration. With prices starting at Rs 7.73 lakh, bookings for the crossover have already begun, and deliveries are set to commence from May 2024. In terms of design, the Taisor shares similar dimensions and silhouette with the Maruti Fronx but features updated front and rear profiles.
Visual enhancements include a revised front grille, tweaked bumpers, newly styled LED DRLs, and redesigned alloy wheels. Moving to the interior, the cabin boasts a fresh theme with new seat upholstery. In terms of features, the Taisor offers a large infotainment screen with wireless smartphone connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, steering-mounted controls, a 360-degree surround camera, and a head-up display.
The Toyota Taisor retains the same powertrain options as the Maruti Fronx. It comes with a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine generating 88bhp/113Nm and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 99bhp/148Nm. The 1.2-litre engine can be paired with a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT, while the turbo petrol variant offers a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic torque converter unit. Additionally, select variants also offer a company-fitted CNG kit option. Interestingly, there is a price disparity of up to Rs. 25,000 across the 1.2-litre engine models, whereas the price difference between the Fronx and the Taisor in the 1.0-litre turbo model is minimal, at just Rs. 1000.
