Audi Q5 Facelift, Back To Work With New SUV
After a small brake the Audi Q5 reenters in the market with its facelift/update, in this update Q5 comes with some cosmetic changes at both inner and out. But the major update is now the diesel engine is discontinued in India from VW for all the upcoming vehicles. The 2021 Audi Q5 is offered in two variants premium plus and technology. In this facelift it comes with only one petrol engine which is a 2.0 litre TFSI Petrol motor, which produces 248 bhp of power with redlines at 6000Rpm and 370Nm of torque with redlines at between 1500 to 4000Rpm.
The power is becomes lower because it comes with the BS6 technology, earlier model comes with BS4. This TFSI unit is paired with a 7 speed S-tronic (DCT) gearbox. This DSG gearbox distributes the power to all the wheels, thanks to that Quattro AWD system, the result is the Q5 goes 0 to 100 KMPH in just 6.6 seconds, but looking to its power output it quite at lower speed but when the speedometer goes near 50 to 60 KMPH, games changes here dramatically and it lunges ahead likes nobody’s business. Moral of the story is that Q5 has punchy and great midrange which makes it more aggressive than earlier. Making a quick overtake or going in triple digits, this TFSI motor pulls it likes a monster.
Thanks to that DSG gearbox and three driving modes (Eco, Comfort and Dynamic), this driving modes alter the performance of the Q5. In this segment lots of cars comes with Hybrid Tech, but the Q5 misses out. Maybe we get it in its upcoming generations or the next facelift. So the Q5 is very powerful and refined suv, yes it misses Diesel motor but it corrects that with its midrange of rave range. The 2021 Q5 is 4682mm longer, 1893mm wider, 1655mm taller.
The wheelbase is 2819mm and ground clearance is 200mm which is decently enough. Starting from the front, now it gets bigger grill than earlier with some chrome garnishing on it. On that large pentagonal grill there is a big Audi logo with parking sensors on it. Bumper gets skid plate treatment with lots of aluminium finish too.
The headlight unit is full led with a headlight washer as well, earlier generation gets dynamic swipe indicators but now it misses out that. The vehicle runs on 19 inch alloys with front and rear disc brakes as well, the alloy wheel design is quite simple but not attractive in any ways. The door handles is body coloured and opens in some different style which looks super cool.
The ORVM gets dual tone paint with led indicators on it, the tail of the vehicle is simple and well finished. The taillights is all led but again it missed out that dynamic function, on the rear windscreen we get wiper washer with defogger also. There is a small chrome line running throughout the width of tailgate which lots of Audi cars gets running brake light. The rear bumper gets fog lamps with fake exhaust tips and also four parking sensors on it. The tailgate is electrically operated with gestures control as well.
The boot carrying capacity is above 500 litres and likely to be biggest in the segment. Which, we can increase this by splitting the second row in 40:20:40 ratio. The design of the vehicle is very practical and well finished, but I thought it should look more aggressive and appealing than this. But this design gives very clean simple looks thanks to that cuts and crises on body. Inside the vehicle Q5 get dual tone interior with a big panoramic sunroof as well.
The dashboard design is neat clean and gives very subtle look. On the dashboard we get a new floating 10 inch touchscreen infotainment system which gets android auto, apple car play, radio, media, navigation, phone, voice command, ambient lighting and parking camera. Below that screen we get two ac vents with air conditioning as well. The centre console is very loaded of lots cubby holes and charging port. In the centre console we get a 12V charging port with cigarette litre and a that chrome finished gear liver. Under the front centre armrest there are wireless charging pad with some charging ports and a ash tray as well.
The steering wheel is flat bottom and gets both height and reach adjust. On steering wheel there are lots of switches and also paddle shifters, that switches operate that 10 inch Audi’s virtual cockpit, in this cockpit we get navigation, TPMS, speedometer, tachometer, engine range, fuel economy and also various themes as well. Front seats are very comfortable and gets good amount of knee room and headroom.
Like that second row is also comfortable for two people, Audi has gives us three height adjustable headrest but if you are chubby then it would be a tight fit. The headroom is good, knee room is ample in space but the under thighs support is poor at second row. Overall there are AC vents, centre armrest, sun blinds, magazine holder and lots of more in seconds row.
Like that this Q5 is loaded with tons of new age features like, 750W 19 speakers Bang and Olufsen sound system, electrically adjustable front seats with memory seats function at driver side, digital instrument cluster, electric panoramic sunroof, rear sun blinds, three zone automatic climate control, paddle shifters, cruise control, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, auto dimming irvm, electric tailgate opening and closing with gesture control, all led headlamps, 32 colours ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, electric parking brake and more.
In safety tech we have 8 airbags, ABS and EBD, brake assist, ESP, hill hold control, traction control, speed sensing auto door lock, TPMS, isofix child seat anchors, front and rear parking sensors with rear camera and more.

The price of the 2021 Audi Q5 starts from 58.93L to 63.77L (Ex-showroom Delhi), in this price segment this Q5 compete with Mercedes Benz GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, BMW X5, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes Benz GLA, BMW X4, Audi Q2, Lexus NX. So this facelift of Audi Q5 is very well packaged with great handling, well balanced drivability, punchy motor, lots of features and comfort ride.
That diesel engine really helps it in its rivals but that level of comfort, new age features, punchy engine and great handling takes it already a great position between its rivals.
