Tata Punch, Mini Tata Is Here
In this festive season Tata comes with its new fresh micro suv Punch, this suv is fitted in the micro suv’s segment where we can meet Ignis, Kiger and also upcoming Casper. The Punch shows Tata’s new age suv and also you can remember some Tata’s suv in this micro. This Tata Punch made on ALFA-ARC platform which is also shared by Tata Altroz. In the 2020 Tata take this micro suv in Auto Expo under the name of HBX but in 2021 Tata revised it and now it comes with Punch badging.
In Punch we get 4 variants- pure, adventure, accomplished and creative. There are also 3 packs – rhythm pack, dazzle pack and IRA pack, this packs gives us more features in lower trims as well. Under its hood we have one engine option which is a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder revotron petrol engine which produces 86bhp of power and 113Nm of torque and mated to a 5 speed manual and automatic transmission options.
We are reviewing the top end model which Creative trim with 5 speed AMT gearbox, which produces 86Bhp of power with redlines at 6000Rpm and 113Nm of torque with redlines at 3000Rpm. The motor produces adequate amount of performance which is good for city driving where you can put the liver on D and enjoy the traffic with hustle free driving but which who loves to hit redlines, close your eyes and take that 5 speed manual in your garage.
The AMT transmission is only for the people who loves hustle free driving. This 5 speed automatic unit gives you 18.82 claimed average fuel economy, which is very nice but the performance is also lack down in this micro suv. The length of the Tata Punch is 3827mm, width is 1742mm and height is 1615mm. The wheelbase is 2445mm and ground clearance is 187mm. So the fact is, this Tata Punch is bigger in all dimensions than its rival.
Like this Punch made on ALFA-ARC, Punch also gets 90° opening doors which is very good. At front we get glossy black finished front grill with the Tata’s traditional tri arrow pattern there too, bumper is finished in plastic which is not body painted but gives macho and muscular look to this micro suv. The front will remind you some Tata’s bigger suv like harrier, punch gets high mounted led drl which can also be a indicators.
The headlamps unit is in projector setup with halogen fog lamps as well. Vehicle runs on 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, which personally I like the design of the alloys. The side body gets black cladding which is throughout the vehicle, the door handles is body coloured and gets request sensors on it.
The rear door handles are integrated in C pillars like the swift. The tail of the punch is quite sorted with well integrated reverse parking camera and taillights. The brake lights are led neither the reverse lamps or indicators. To reduce the bulky filling, rear bumper is finished in black with tri arrow pattern there too.
The boot space of the punch is 366 litres, which is decent enough and biggest in its segment. When looking to its design I thought that Tata make the Punch after remixing Tata Safari, Tata Harrier. Although Tata hit the ball out of the stadium by making this Punch.
Inside this 2021 Tata Punch we get dual tone interior with 8 inch floating infotainment system. The dashboard design is very practical and well finished, we get four AC vents which is integrated on dashboard which gets body coloured finish as well. Centre console is also well organised and gets a 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with lots of features like a android auto and apple car play,
radio, navigation, media, bluetooth, driving data and also themes. Below that screen there are two AC vents and air conditioning controls with some charging ports. Well the steering wheel is flat bottom and gets height adjust with mounted control on it.
That mounted controls operate that 7 inch digital instrument cluster which taken from Altroz, which gives you various information like average fuel efficiency, trip meter, engine data, temperature and lots of more which we seen in Altroz.
So there are lots of storage space in cabin and feels airy roomy, thanks to the big windows and dual tone interior. The second row of the Punch gives adequate amount of knee room and under thighs support, but if you are above 6 feet, there is a tight fit because headroom is an issue in second but it makes decent job.
Tata gives us two proper height adjustable headrest and one centre arm rest as well. Three people should feel not comfortable because end of the day it is small car. But in this small car we get lots of big features like, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, voice command, cruise control, puddle lamps,
follow me home headlights, start engine stop button, dead paddle, digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable and retractable orvm, automatic climate control, manually seat height adjustable, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear liver,
cooled glove box, rear wiper washer, steering mounted control, 6 speakers Harmon Cardon music system and also connected car tech in IRA pack. Safety is the main highlight of this vehicle because it gets 5 stars in Global NCAP and gets 2 airbags, ABS And EBD,
seat belt warning, isofix child seat anchors, emergency brake light flashing, reverse parking camera with parking sensors and many more. In Punch we get a Traction Pro Mode, which takes you from the path if you get stuck in. This 2021 Tata Punch offers in 7 colours options.

Price of Tata Punch starts from 5.50L to 9.39L (Ex-showroom Delhi), in this price point it compete with Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger , Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Tata Altroz, MG Astor, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Breeza, Tata Tiago. Looking to its price, it would be become costly.
But the design of the vehicle, features it offers, great safety tech, adequate driving performance absolutely nailed the Tata Punch in market.
